Cranberry Magic Bars
There is nothing better than a simple and delicious fool-proof dessert recipe. Cranberry Magic bars are also great recipe for any baking skill level, so let the kids help out with this one!
Firstly, spray a 9 x 13 inch baking pan with non-stick cooking spray and then line with parchment paper. Leave about a two inch overhang over the top of the pan so you can easily remove the bars.
The bottom layer of the bars is just crushed graham cracker crumbs and melted butter. You can buy crushed graham cracker crumbs in the baking aisle of the grocery store. Otherwise, you can pulse about a sleeve and half of graham crackers in a food processor until they resemble a fine crumb.
Mix melted butter with the graham crumbs and press the mixture into the bottom of the greased pan. I like to use a rubber spatula or clean hands to do this.
Once the grahams are pressed into the bottom of the pan, drizzle the can of sweetened condensed milk over the graham layer. Go slow and try to get the milk over the entire layer of graham; you can use a rubber spatula to help spread if needed.
Secondly, add on the toppings for the bars. Start first with the cranberries.
Then, add on both the white chocolate and milk chocolate chips. Dark chocolate chips would be excellent in this recipe as well.
Lastly, sprinkle on the chopped pecans and sweetened shredded coconut. Use a spatula or clean hands to gently press the toppings into the sweetened condensed milk. This step is optional, but does help the ingredients stick together better.
Bake the cranberry magic bars
Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown. Let the bars cool completely before cutting them.
Use the parchment to help get the bars out of then pan. When they are completely cooled, cut into small squares. You can keep this covered in the refrigerator for up to a week.
