Ingredients
- Oreos: I like to use the Double Stuf Oreos so I can get a fatter spider. Regular Oreos will work too. And, if you can find Halloween Oreos, that’s even better!
- Pretzels: use pretzel sticks to make the legs of the spider.
- Chocolate Chips: the melted chocolate acts as glue to hold the spider body together and to keep the sprinkles on. You could always use white chocolate chips or frosting instead.
- Chocolate Sprinkles: brown chocolate sprinkles mimic the “hair” of the spiders body.
- Candy Eyes: you can find these in the cake supply section of most grocery stores.
How to Make Oreo Cookie Spiders
This easy recipe is made with simple ingredients and is definitely one for the kids! Start by laying out a piece of wax paper or parchment paper on a cookie sheet to build the no bake Oreo spider cookies on.
Step 1: add on pretzel legs
First, you want to carefully pull apart the Oreo cookie. Then, depending on the size of your pretzels, cut the pretzels in half to make eight legs.
Would you like to save this?
Press the spider legs into the Oreo cream.
Step 2: add on chocolate
Next, melt the chocolate in a microwave safe bowl. You may need to add a small amount of coconut oil to thin out the chocolate if it’s too thick.
Dollop a small amount of chocolate on top of the legs (this will help keep the Oreo shut). Then, place the remaining cookie half back on top of the chocolate.
Step 3: add sprinkles and eyes
Spread a small amount of the melted chocolate on top of the Halloween Oreo spiders. Top with chocolate sprinkles and position the candy eyes on top of the spiders.
Step 4: let chocolate harden
Lastly, you need to wait before biting into these spooky Oreo spider cookies. You can easily move and store them once the chocolate has hardened.
Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator. These are the perfect special treats for your next Halloween party!
Tips for Making Oreo Cookie Spiders
- Use the larger Double Stuf Oreos if you can find them so that you have more cream to press the pretzel spider legs into.
- Melted chocolate acts as a glue to hold all of the decorations in place. You can also use different colored candy melts here.
- Have a variety of sprinkles and candies, and let kids decorate the spiders how they like.
