Are you looking for an easy to make cake pop that doesn’t involve actually making a cake? This 3 ingredient Oreo cake pops recipe is exactly what you need and tastes just as good as if you baked a cake from scratch.
Everyone loves a cake pop. It’s a tiny bit of sweet dessert brought to you in lollipop form. The normal cake pop recipe involves actual cake that you have to bake, and frosting that you have to make… as in a lot of work! This recipe tastes just as good (if not better) and it only involves a food processor and a bag of Oreos.

Low Cost Oreo Cake Pops!
Another great thing about making cake pops, their cost! Your average Starbucks cake pop will cost around $2, where here you can make 18-20 for around $6. Moreover, it can be done with just three simple ingredient: a bag of Oreos, cream cheese, and a bag of Wilton’s Candy Melts.
You can get Wilton’s at Michaels using their standard 40% off coupon (never pay full price at Michaels!) They are also available on online and a Wilton Primary Candy Color Set is offered at a great price! You could also use dipping chocolate from the grocery store – it’s white chocolate that comes in an ice cube looking tray found in the baking section.
You can make these Oreo cake pops ahead too! Make the entire pop a day ahead so you’re not rushing to dip the day of the party. To do this, just make sure the candy coating is set and store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator. So easy and so delicious, we all need Oreo cake pops in our lives!
Step-by-Step on How to Make Oreo Cake Pops
Step 1: Make the “Dough”
So easy. You could also use a blender if you didn’t have a food processor.
Blend it up.
Add in the cream cheese.
Easiest dough recipe ever!
Optional: Fold in sprinkles.
Put the dough in an airtight container and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to chill. Can refrigerate overnight as well.
Step 2: Roll into Balls and Chill
Time to roll the Oreo cake pops! Once you roll them, you will need to freeze them for about 10 minutes, so make room in the freezer for a tray of cake pops. You can work in batches if you don’t have room to fit an entire tray. Line a cookie sheet or plate with plastic wrap, parchment, or foil, and get rolling.
Each ball should be roughly two tablespoons, about the size of a meatball. Put on your lined tray when done. You should get about 18-20 cake pops from one batch of dough.
Would you like to save this?
If using lollipop sticks, you can add them at this point. You could also use paper straws or no stick at all.
Put the cake pops in the freezer to chill while you make the candy coating.
Step 3: Dip and Sprinkle
This is the really fun part. Dipping and sprinkling. The sprinkles are optional and the cake pops are just as pretty when they are just dipped. You could even drizzle on a second color to really play in to your color scheme.
To make the dip, just pour the bag of candy melts in a microwave safe bowl. Heat for about 2 ½ minutes, stopping every 30 seconds to stir. Once all of coating is melted and smooth, pour the mixture into a tall glass for dipping. Kids’ plastic cups are great for this because glass retains heat and you don’t want the candy melts too warm.
Dip your cake pops!
Step 4: Add Sprinkles
If you are using sprinkles or toppings, you want to sprinkle them on before the candy coating hardens. Have a separate bowl to the side where you sprinkle on the toppings.
Once the shell has hardened, you can put it on the lined pan. Tip: dip the bottoms (or tops) of cake pops in sprinkles so you can put them on the tray faster.
Three batches of Oreo cake pops in three different colors. Pretty, no?
Some of the Oreo cake pops made it onto a paper plate for a neighborhood party.
The others stood upright in a basket using foam to keep them put. Either way you display them, totally delicious and a definite crowd pleaser!
So with just three ingredients (optional fourth if you want sprinkles) you can have some delicious and oh-so-easy Oreo cake pops. Thank you Oreo, you saved the day again!
3 Ingredient Oreo Cake Pops
Ingredients
- 1 14.3 ounce bag of Oreos
- 5.5 ounces cream cheese (⅔ of an 8 ounce of a bar)
- 1 12 ounce bag of Candy Melts (I use Wilton)
- sprinkles and toppings optional
Instructions
- Pulse the Oreos in a food processor until finely ground. Add the cream cheese and pulse until combined. Pour the mixture into a bowl and fold in any desired treats (optional). Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Line a cookie sheet or large plate with plastic wrap. Roll the dough into medium-sized balls, about 2 tablespoons per ball. (You should get 18-20 cake pops total). If using lollipop sticks, stick into the balls at this time. Put the rolled balls into the freezer for at least 10 minutes.
- Heat the candy melts in a microwave save bowl for 2 ½ minutes, stirring at 30 second intervals, until the melted and smooth. Transfer to a tall glass for dipping. Remove the cake pops from the freezer and dip into candy melts one at a time, allowing excess candy melts to drizzle and the cake pop to firm before placing it back on the lined cookie sheet. Optional: if you are adding topping, sprinkle over pop before it completely dries.
