4th of July Ice Cream Sandwiches
These cookies are also great to use to make ice cream sandwiches. They are the perfect texture and size for a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
To turn your 4th of July cookies into ice cream sandwiches, simply add a scoop of slightly softened vanilla ice cream on to the cookie bottom. Then, sandwich it with a cookie top. You can eat immediately or freeze for later.
How to Make 4th of July Cookies
The recipe for these cookies is actually a modified version of the Nestle Tollhouse recipe. It has been tried and tested for guaranteed deliciousness.
These are not your small fluffy cookies. The cookies will spread so make sure you are leaving space on your cookie tray when baking.
Firstly, whisk together the dry ingredients; set aside. Then, cream together the room temperature butter and sugars for a couple of minutes. Next, add in the eggs and vanilla.
Stir in the flour mixture and about a cup of the white chocolate chips. You want to save the rest of pressing on to the tops of the cookies later.
Then, scoop the cookie dough using a cookie scoop, roll into balls, and place on cookie sheet. Make sure you leave room because these cookies will spread.
To ensure that the 4th of July Cookies have uniform red, white, and blue on top, don’t add the M&M’s and remaining white chocolate chips until after you have dropped them on the cookie sheet.
Lastly, press the M&M’s and chips on top of the cookie dough and bake at 350 degrees for about 9-10 minutes. Let the cookies sit before removing them to a rack to cool.
Even if the cookies spread a bit, they are still delicious and the perfect Independence Day treat! I like to freeze a batch of cookies too; they are great chilled or warm out of the oven.

4th of July Cookies with M&M’s
Ingredients
- 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup butter, softened (two sticks)
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ¾ cup packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 1 ½ cups white chocolate chip morsels divided
- ½ cup red and blue M&M’s

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line baking sheets with parchment or nonstick baking mat; set aside.
- Combine flour, baking soda and salt in a small bowl; set aside. In a large mixing bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in 1 cup of the white chocolate chips.
