Crème Brûlée French Toast

Deliciously simple overnight breakfast casserole that takes just minutes to put together!

Crème Brûlée French Toast is an easy to make overnight breakfast casserole with a delicious brown sugar bottom and an egg challah bread filling.

Ingredients: half & half, eggs, butter, brown sugar, vanilla, corn syrup, salt, and Challah bread (or any other hearty bread)

Start by making the brown sugar bottom. In a sauce pan, bring to a low simmer the butter, brown sugar & corn syrup. Whisk well.

Pour the brown sugar mixture into the bottom of a 9 x 13 inch baking dish or casserole dish.

Slice the Challah bread into 6 one-inch slices and place them on top of the brown sugar, squeezing them to fit.

Make the custard: whisk together the eggs, half & half, vanilla, and salt, until well combined.

Pour the custard over the bread. Cover with foil or plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 8 hours, up to 24 hours.

When ready to bake, place in a preheated oven for 40 minutes until the bread is puffed and golden in color.

Cut out squares of the french toast casserole and place on plate, flipping so the bottom brown sugar side is up.
