Ingredients
Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Dip is made with just a few ingredients: raw chicken, ranch seasoning, cream cheese, mozzarella, hot sauce, sour cream, and kosher salt.
- Chicken Breasts: many recipes call for cooked shredded chicken. Here, you cook the chicken in the slow cooker before adding the other ingredients. I like to use skinless chicken breasts because they shred easily without any bones.
- Hot Sauce: the hot sauce used in this recipe is Frank’s Red Hot. This is a cayenne pepper sauce and my personal favorite with Buffalo Chicken Dip. You can substitute any sauce you like, and if you want less spice, just use half of the amount listed.
- Cream Cheese: low fat cream cheese can be used here. Try to have the cream cheese room temperature before adding so that it stirs in better.
- Mozzarella: I like the cheesy texture you get from melted mozzarella. However, you can change up the flavors of the dip by using pepper jack cheese, cheddar, or even gouda.

Recipe Tips
Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Dip is a simple and easy to make recipe. Here are my tips and tricks to getting the perfect dip every time!
- Cook the chicken in the slow cooker. If you wanted to use precooked chicken, like shredded rotisserie chicken, just add it to the slow cooker along with the other ingredients over low heat.
- Frank’s Red Hot is the usual hot sauce used in buffalo chicken. If you prefer something not so spicy, just use half the amount of sauce.
- Ranch seasoning comes in either packets or large containers in the spice section of the grocery store. This gives it a distinct flavor. You will need ¼ cup total.
- Low fat cream cheese and sour cream can be used in this recipe.
- Use full fat mozzarella so that it melts properly in the dip.
